14th Century
The development of mechanical presses in Europe leads to more efficient cold pressing techniques for extracting oils from seeds and nuts.
19th Century
The Industrial Revolution brings significant advancements in cold-pressing technology, with the invention of hydraulic presses and screw presses. These innovations greatly improve the efficiency and yield of oil extraction.
20th Century
Cold-pressed oils become less popular as industrialized methods of oil extraction, such as solvent extraction and refining, gain prominence due to their higher yields and lower costs.
Late 20th Century
With the rise of health-conscious consumers and growing interest in traditional and natural food products, cold-pressed oils experience a resurgence. Small-scale producers begin to focus on traditional cold-pressing methods to preserve the nutritional value and flavor of the oils.
Present day
Cold-pressed oils have gained widespread popularity as a healthier alternative to refined oils. They are commonly produced from a variety of seeds, nuts, and fruits, including Groundnuts, olive, coconut, almond, avocado, flaxseed, and more.
